Sweet rice or glutinous rice is a very popular ingredient in Korean cuisine. In Korea, it is called "chapssal", which literally means "sticky rice" since it becomes soft and sticky when cooked. It is good for those with digestive problems since it is not irritating to your stomach lining and it is easy to digest. Glutinous rice is used to make cooked rice, rice cakes and porridge, and also used as stuffing in ginseng chicken soup ("samgyetang"). You can mix glutinous rice with white rice and other kinds of grains to make it softer and more appetizing.
